La Salle's athletic teams are known as the La Salle Explorers, who compete in 23 varsity sports, in the NCAA's Division I, in the Atlantic Ten Conference. The teams have experienced victory many times, in the past years, in many of their sports, among their most notable achievements being, perhaps, the 2 national championships won: the 1954 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament and the 1980 Division II AIAW Field Hockey Championship.
